Short version: this website collects almost nothing, and it publishes nothing at all about our members.

What this website collects

When you send us a message

The contact form asks for your name, your email address, what your message is about, and the message itself. We use those to reply to you. Nothing else.

Messages are delivered to a MIWA email address and are not stored in this website’s database. If you later ask us to delete your message and your details, write to us and we will.

When you just read the site

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as part of running and securing the server. We do not use analytics, we do not track you across other websites, and there are no advertising cookies on this site.

What we never publish

This is the part that matters most, so we will be specific.

We never publish anything on this website about an individual member. Not her name, not her photograph, not her nationality, not her email address, not her telephone number, not her home address, not her birthday, not which events she came to, and not whether she has paid her dues.

The numbers we do give, such as how many members there are and how many countries they come from, are totals, and they cannot be traced back to a person.

The photographs on this site are MIWA’s own, and every one of them was already published on our own Instagram or Facebook before it appeared here. They show members, because members are what the association is. They do not show children, they do not show the inside of anybody’s house, and they never carry a name. Where the best photograph of a group happened to be taken in a member’s living room, the women were cut out of it and the room was left behind.

Nothing the children we work with made or wrote appears here either. Their drawings and paintings are theirs, not ours to publish, so this site shows the materials and the places instead. One photograph had a pencil signature removed for the same reason: a signature is a name. If you are in a photograph here and would rather not be, write to us and it comes down.

Where an event is held at a member’s home, this website never names the member or the address. The address goes only to the people who have said they are coming.

What MIWA keeps about its members

To run the association, MIWA holds a members’ register: name, contact details, nationality, when you joined, whether your dues are paid, and which events you came to.

That register is not on this website, and it is not on the internet for anyone to find. It is held in a system that only board members can open, each with their own login, so that it is clear who has access and what has been changed. It is used to contact members, keep the accounts and plan events, and it is not sold, shared or given to anybody else.

If you are a member and you want to know what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted when you leave, write to us and we will deal with it.
